Propionic acid is used as a preservative for animal feed and food for human consumption.
It acts as an intermediate in the production of polymers like cellulose-acetate-propionate ,
artificial flavorings, agrochemicals and in bleaching agents. In addition, it is used in the
synthesis of morphans.
