Biochem/physiol Actions : - "High ceiling" diuretic that strongly affects renal tubular action by increasing renal blood flow ; - antihypertensive ; - Furosemide can block the Na+/K+/2Cl- co-transporter in the ascending thick loop of Henle, it can enhance the synthesis of intrarenal prostaglandin , it enhances its ototoxicity in animals when used along with kanamycin ; - Furosemide is linked with thiamine insufficiency in individuals with heart failure ; - Inhibits ion co-transport in the kidney.
